Paris Bars

From rooftop bars with an amazing view to hidden speakeasies to bars with unique themes and drinks, there is something on this list to pique every visitor’s interest.

Bars with a view

10ème Ciel at the Pullman Hotel

Drinks are pricey at 20€ a piece, but you’re paying for the view! Go out on the balcony for a great view and picture of the Eiffel Tower.

Bonnie Bar

A bit out of the way of central Paris and the touristy area. Not as good of a rooftop view as the previous bar, but the servers are helpful and friendly, and the drinks are tasty!

Terrass and Le Perchoir are two other rooftop bars that are on our bucket list for our next visit!

Bars with a cool theme

Ice Kube

You need to make a reservation and pay a deposit ahead of time. At -20°C, wear warm clothes! For 25 €, you get two cocktails, a shot, and get to borrow a warm parka for the 25 minute time limit. As the name implies, the entire bar is made of ice.

Bisou.

This no-menu bar is a blast! On most visits, the server asks you to give a mood, a color, or any other vague directions. They pass this along to the bartender to make a custom drink for you, usually with flowers and edible glitter. One time, we were asked a series of 3 questions: favorite type of alcohol; sweet, sour, or savory; and fruity or floral? You never know what you’ll get here, and the vibe is feminine and fun.

Solera

You go here for the creative drinkware and presentation. Each drink comes in a unique vessel, some with smoke.

Le Calbar

The waiters are dressed in dress shirts, bowties, and boxers - but it is done in a classy manner, and the cocktails are some of the tastiest in Paris!

Au Lèche-Vin

Bring friends here and have them stop in the bathroom before they leave. Every inch of wall space in this bar is covered with religious imagery, but the bathroom is covered wall-to-ceiling in pornographic images (and offers the opportunity to use a turkish toilet, aka a hole in the ground).

Danico

“Hidden” upstairs of a restaurant, the menu is based on a foreign country. When Allie visited, the menu was full of stories from the owner’s trip to Indonesia, and each drink had its own cultural explanation and illustrations. The menu is the coolest she’s ever seen, and the drinks were tasty, too.

Le Baron Rouge

There is no theme here, but it is worth mentioning due to its cheap (and delicious) wine, laidback local vibe, and helpful owner. The owner will let you sample a wine if you are not sure and make a different recommendation based on whether you are looking for something more sweet or dry. We recommend this place no matter what, but especially if you are on a budget.

Hidden bars

Note: A lot of these “hidden” bars are not exactly hidden anymore. A bit of the magic is ruined when there is a line outside the establishment or when the workers inside ask right away if you’re there for the restaurant or the bar, but c’est la vie!

No Entry

This bar is hidden behind a steel door in the Italian restaurant Pink Mamma with a sign that says “No Entry.” It looks like an employee-only access door, so it is exciting to open and walk through it.

Candelaria

The food at the taqueria is delicious. Try the sweet potato tacos and margarita (go during happy hour when they are half off) before entering through the unmarked white door next to the kitchen to enter the hidden bar. They have normal cocktails and an extensive agave menu with really bizarre and intriguing flavor profiles. Check it out here for some chuckles. Try the one that tastes like “seaweed, flowers, and old smoke” - surprisingly good!

Moonshiner

This bar is hidden behind a set of unmarked doors at the back of a pizzeria. For a set price, you can order a “three-course meal” of drinks: appetizer, main entrée, and dessert - all based off typical food items.

Allie’s order:

Appetizer: Taboulé (vodka, mint, parsley, cucumber, tomato, eau de vie-sparkling fruit brandy-, amaretto)

Main entrée: Risotto (saké, mezcal, tequila, mushrooms, rice, parmesan, verjus - juice of pressed unripe grapes)

Dessert: Carrot Cake (cold brew coffee, Cognac, bitters

L’Epicier

There is a secret food container in this real-life looking grocery bodega that will reveal a hidden door when pulled from the shelf. Upstairs is a Moroccan-themed cocktail bar. The rose-infused cocktail was delicious. The same owners run Lavomatic, a laundromat with a hidden bar behind a washing machine if you know where to hit the secret buttons.
